Union City, Tenn.–Selected students from both the third and fourth grades at Union City Elementary School spent the day at Discovery Park of America recently after being chosen as Discovery Kids as part of the school’s reward program.

Eleven third graders and eleven more fourth-grade students were honored for demonstrating excellent behavior and character for the third nine weeks of the 2021-22 school year. Each student was nominated for the honor by their respective classroom teachers.

Students wore purple UCES shirts to DPA to show their Tornado Pride and explored the park’s many different exhibits and features during their day-long visit.

It was extremely exciting for them to watch UT Martin’s percussion students perform their Roots of Rhythm Program. Instruments from different cultures and countries were explained and used in the performance.

Among those students chosen for the honor were:

Chloe Lyon, Olivia Evans, Amberleigh Dillon, Reilly Mears, Briah Watson, Genesis Waso, Angel Rodriguez

Avery Cannamore, Selena Lopez Maldonado, Dominic Burnside, Dereck Olivares, Bo Bondurant, James Mitchell, Noah Bevis

Kenley Willcutt, Ella Grace Howell, Stellyn Griffith, Carsen Gray, Walker Gray, Boston Riley, Nash Norsworthy, Derrick Avery
