Union City, Tenn.–Post-graduation options are aplenty for high school seniors.

Union City High School coding teacher Dan Burnham is making sure the Air Force is in that mix.

Burnham recently invited Staff Sgt. Dillon Ezernack, an Air Force Enlisted Accessions Recruiter, to share with his classes the opportunities and career fields that come with joining the military branch.

Ezernack gave a detailed explanation and provided an impressive video presentation of Space Force and GPS coordination. He also spoke of the easy transition from military to civilian life and the attractive financial and benefit incentives.

“With the skills we can teach you and the experience you can gain, it really gives you a leg-up in the job world,” said Ezernack, who lives in Dresden but recruits a wide area. “There are financial benefits, travel opportunities, and a variety of skills and duties to pick from.

Ezernack presented examples of several available job categories, including aircraft mechanics, IT positions, and cyber security.

“I was trying to let them hear about other career opportunities out there after graduation,” Burnham said. “Getting a college degree can still be on the table, and the Air Force can help with the financial responsibility of that.

“The military has always been an option for high school graduates, and the things that they offer now in the way of training and opportunities has never been more attractive.”
