Paris, Tenn.–The city of Paris has announced that the intersection at Lone Oak and Wilson Streets will remain a four-way stop after the overhead traffic lights were destroyed in a wreck last week.
City officials said, “Our immediate reaction to the destruction of the traffic signal was fear about what would happen to traffic flow during school rush hours, but to our delight you all handled it like pros! In fact, from all observations, traffic flow might be even better with the intersection operating as a 4-way stop! For these reasons the decision has been made to LEAVE IT AS A 4-WAY STOP.”
The City of Paris thanks “all of you who reached out to us and provided polite feedback and suggestions” regarding the intersection of Lone Oak and Wilson.
City officials said, “We are working on getting the flashers and signs needed to make the permanent transition, in the meantime the temporary sign will remain in the middle of the intersection. Please continue to use caution when navigating around the temporary sign, hopefully we can get the permanent fixtures in soon.”
