HC Seniors Learn Service To Community

hc-hs-second-harvest

Paris, Tenn.–Fall semester 12th grade students traveled to Second Harvest Food Bank in Camden and as a service learning project in conjunction with their unit on “Tuesdays with Morrie: A Young Man, An Old Man, and Life’s Greatest Lesson”, students helped pack over 21,000 pounds of cold-storage foods.
These foods were later dispersed to other organizations within the community that would give food to those in need. This activity helped students apply the lesson that Morrie Schwartz taught for how to bring meaning into your life: “devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to the community around you, and devote yourself to doing something that gives you purpose and meaning.”
With just a few short hours, these HCHS students definitely made an impact on their community.
