Paris, Tenn.–At Friday night’s busy session, the Henry County Schools board of education heard multiple reports from staff and students and honored both staff and students.

The meeting was held at Grove School, which showcased several of its programs and projects, including the Patriot Play School, which is an employee daycare/preschool. The children in the school performed several songs for the board members.

Retired Educator Shirley Braden was recognized for her 50 years of service keeping statistics at Henry County basketball games.

Student Channelle Cole was recognized by 911 Director Mark Archer with a certificate for her “quick-thinking and knowledge of the proper use of 911”. She made an emergency call that saved a life.

Eagle Scout Preston Pooler presented a slideshow for members on his Lakewood Greenhouse construction project.
Grove Ag teacher Noah Rogers and Student Parker James displayed the microgreens they plant and harvest, all within 7-10 days. Freshman agriculture students have been planting, harvesting, and selling the delicious microgreens. These nutrition-packed sprouts can be anything from broccoli to sunflower, and are broadening students’ knowledge of the ease of growing healthy food anywhere – even indoors. Additionally, skills in vegetable production and marketing are being developed. The Plus Endowment grant funded this project.
Tenured teachers were on hand to be recognized.
