Union City Middle School baseball notched its first win of the young season with a 10-5 victory over Trenton in the second game of a doubleheader Thursday.
Hayden Toon doubled, singled twice, and drove home four runs for the Tornadoes, who dropped Game 1 8-5. Toon also scored three times.
Kirben Thompson had three hits and scored three runs while winning pitcher Ben Howell had two singles and an RBI. Latonio Fair drove in a pair of runs, and Owen Waggoner doubled, singled, and scored twice.
Howell gave up just three runs in three innings of mound work to earn the win.
Harrison Durkee crossed the plate twice for UC in the opener.
Now 1-4 on the year, Union City will play at Crockett County Monday.

Eric Lopez had a big day in goal with 14 saves despite the Tornadoes’ home loss to the Henry Countians.
Brandt Huffstutter and Cole Gurley drew praise from head coach Jason Deem for their defensive play, as did Lopez. Rachel McClanahan had a pair of corner kicks and was lauded by Deem.
UC (0-2) trailed 4-0 at the intermission.
The Tornadoes are slated to play at Martin today before visiting McKenzie Tuesday.
