The Habitat for Humanity of Paris/Henry County helps low-income individuals and families build and purchase homes with a zero percent APR interest mortgage rate. Its mission is to seek to put God’s love in action by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope.
Once a year, using many volunteers, a house is built for a qualifying family. “The program is considered a hand up, not a hand out” said Jim Robertson, president of the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity. “The qualifying family must be willing to partner with Habitat for Humanity. If chosen an applicant must complete at least 400 hours of sweat equity towards the building of their habitat home. Of course, we always are looking for community volunteers to also help in the home construction effort. The next family will be selected in June and the house construction will begin in the fall of 2022.”
For more information on volunteering, helping with Habitat, or to donate supplies for a current Habitat house, contact Habitat construction supervisor Hank Rendleman at 731-336-8967.
