Reedy, Darby Meet With Henry County Officials

Nashville, Tenn. — State Rep. Jay Reedy, R-Erin, and State Rep. Tandy Darby, R-Greenfield, recently met with officials from Henry County to discuss economic development opportunities in the area.

With the recent redistricting, Rep. Reedy and Rep. Darby will now be representing Henry County.

The group, which visited the state capitol on March 1, also met with Gov. Bill Lee and Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe.

“I appreciate the opportunity to connect Henry County leadership with Commissioner Rolfe and Gov. Lee as they look forward to potential exciting developments for Henry and surrounding counties,” Reedy said about the visit.

Among those who took part in the meetings were Henry County Mayor John Penn Ridgeway, Paris Mayor Carlton Gerrell and Henry County Commissioners Paul Neal, Marty Visser, Drew Williams, Monte Starks, Dell Carter, James Travis, Jerry Berry and Kenneth Humphreys.

Former Henry County Mayor Brent Greer and former State Rep. Don Ridgeway were also in attendance.

“It was great to talk with officials from Henry County and learn more about what is important to the communities they represent,” Darby said. “I look forward to working with them as we continue to pursue additional economic development opportunities in West Tennessee.” 

Topics discussed included widening U.S. Highway 641 from Paris to Kentucky, increasing available industrial park property in Henry County and the desire for increased broadband opportunities.

“The Henry County delegation is excited about the upcoming economic investment the state is putting into West Tennessee, and we stand ready to provide incentives for new and existing industries to grow in Paris and Henry County,” Ridgeway said. 

Jay Reedy represents House District 74, which includes all of Houston, Humphreys and part of Montgomery counties. As a result of redistricting, the district will change later this year to include all of Benton, Houston, Humphreys, Stewart and part of Henry counties.

Tandy Darby represents House District 76, which includes all of Weakley and part of Obion and Carroll counties. The district will change later this year to include all of Weakley and part of Henry and Carroll counties as a result of redistricting.
