McKenzie, Tenn.–Enthusiastic McKenzie Lady Rebel fans watch as Head Coach John Wilkins cuts down the net following the Lady Rebels’ victory over Moore County Saturday night in McKenzie. With the victory, The Lady Rebels advance to the first round of state playoff action on Thursday afternoon at 2:45 at the glass house in Murfreesboro.
It will be the first time since 1963 but the Lady Rebels have advanced to the state tournament playoffs for TSSAA single A tournament action.
It’s a good year for the area’s girls basketball teams, with other teams from along State Route 22–Gleason, Dressden and Martin (Westview)–on to way to state.
This is the third McKenzie team to go to state this year: golf, football, ladies basketball (and possibly the McKenzie boys’ basketball team).
McKenzie Rebel men’s program will be playing Monday night at McKenzie. Richfield High School is seeking to advance to the first round in the men’s competition. You can hear all the action on our McKenzie station, WHDM 98.9 FM.
