Dresden, Tenn.–Dresden Mayor Jeff Washburn has released the preliminary floorplan for the proposed Dresden Municipal Complex in downtown Dresden. Dresden City Hall was one of many buildings destroyed in the December 10, 2021 tornado.
The building would be approximately 20,000 square feet in size and would incorporate the Dresden Fire and Police Departments under a single roof with City Hall. There would also be a combination board meeting room/training room/community room that will double as a safe room, Washburn said.
In the floor plan, the area in red is fire department. The area in darker blue is police department. The area in lavender is city hall offices, and the area in light blue are spaces shared by all departments and public spaces.
The building would face the courthouse on Main Street and the fire department bays would be drive through and face Poplar Street.
The complex is designed to meet the needs of the city for the next 50, 75, or 100 years.
There are still a few minor modifications to be made to the plan before being presented to the city board for review and approval.
