
Otis L. Burk of Puryear, Tenn., 88, died at his residence Wednesday, February 23, 2022.
Otis was born December 7, 1933, in Oneida, Tenn., to James Henry Burk and Sally Terry Burk, who both preceded him in death. Asher Freimuth-Bingham, one of Otis’ great grandchildren, and three of Otis’ brothers: Floyd, Ethol, Cleduith Burk also preceded him in death.
Otis was married to Janice Fuqua Burk of Puryear, Tenn., who he wedded February 25, 1956. He died Two days before their 66th wedding anniversary.
Otis worked at Celotex until closing and he owned and operated Burk’s Microscope Sales & Service where he went to schools and colleges selling and repairing microscopes. He was a member of Puryear Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors, gardening, hunting, fishing, and most of all his family.
Along with his wife, Otis leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters: Debbie (Tim) Brannon of Puryear, Tenn., Myra (Glynn) Gallimore of Puryear, Tenn., Stephanie (Johnny) Alexander of Lascassas, Tenn.; a son: Henry (Ellen) Burk of Almo, Ky.; grandchildren: Natalie (Joey) Boyd, Kelly (Cody) Bumpus, Phillip (Lindsey) Gallimore, Amanda (Derek) Bell, Christy (Jack) Stanulis, Nathan Burk, Adam Burk, and Matthew Burk; 13 great grandchildren: Luke Boyd, Izzy Boyd, Ty Barlow, Keira Gallimore, Ava Barlow, Pryce Gallimore, Bree Barlow, Grey Gallimore, Jocelyn Bell, Camdon Bell, Jackson Stanulis, Lilyann Stanulis, and Cain Burk; sisters: Zola Brewster of Sherman, Texas and Geneva Koger of Puryear, Tenn.; brothers: Arlie Burk of Cookeville, Tenn., and James Allen Burk of Round Lake, Ill; and other relatives: numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
His funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2022 at McEvoy Funeral Home, with burial at Walker Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2022, and after12 p.m. Sunday. Dwayne Chadwick of Puryear Baptist Church and Mike Rhodes, interim at Oak Grove Baptist Church, will preside over services.
Pallbearers will be Glynn Gallimore, Tim Brannon, Johnny Alexander, Phillip Gallimore, Derek Bell, Joey Boyd, Jack Stanulis, and Cody Bumpus. Honorary Pallbearers are Mr. Burk’s grandson and great grandchildren.
