Camden, Tenn.–A threat of violence at Camden Central High School has been turned over to the Camden Police Department and school officials said additional law enforcement will be present at CHS tomorrow.
Benton County Schools officials said, “Safety and security are priorities with Benton County Schools. Today, February 23, 2022, high school administrators were notified of a potential threat of violence at Camden Central High School through social media. This matter has been turned over to the Camden Police Department for investigation. For precautionary measures, we will have additional law enforcement on the CHS campus in the morning. We are confident local law enforcement has the situation under control, and there is no impending danger on the CHS campus from this social media post.”
Officials said, “We continue to take any threats to student safety very seriously. We ask that the public remember to follow the philosophy of “See Something, Say Something” when witnessing or hearing suspicious activity. We ask students and families who become aware of any threat to our campuses to please notify school staff and law enforcement immediately. We would also like to remind students and families not to share online posts that refer to school safety threats and discourage others from doing so.
“Additionally, any students found to be responsible for threats will face school disciplinary action and/or criminal prosecution.”
