
Murray, Ky.–Calloway County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a crash and found a vehicle on fire in a yard. Deputies found the driver walking away from the wreck.
Richard T. Leslie, age 37, was transported first to the local hospital with serious injuries and later transported to a trauma center.
Leslie was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of an accident.
On Friday, February 18, 2022 at approximately 11 p.m. Calloway County, KY 911 Communications Center received a report of an injury collision in the 11000 block of Highway 94 East. Calloway County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area and located a single vehicle with significant damage and on fire in a yard. Shortly thereafter, Calloway County Sheriff’s Deputies located the driver of the vehicle walking in the area.
Preliminary investigation has indicated Richard Leslie was westbound on Highway 94 East in a gold Audi passenger car when, for reasons related to speed and alcohol, he drove the vehicle off the roadway and struck a tree. Mr. Leslie then left the scene of the collision prior to the arrival of law enforcement.
Leslie was transported by Murray-Calloway County Emergency Medical Services to Murray-Calloway County Hospital for treatment of serious injuries received during the collision. Mr. Leslie was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. Due to his medical needs, Mr. Leslie was cited and released. A short time later, Leslie was transported to a trauma center for further treatment.
