Paris, Tenn.–Former State Representative Tim Wirgau has filed a petition to run for Henry County Mayor against Incumbent John Penn Ridgeway.
Wirgau will be on the ballot at the May 3 primary for the position, with Ridgeway to be pitted against Wirgau in the state and county general election August 4.
Wirgau, of Paris, represented the former District 75 from January 2011 until January 2019. He was defeated by Bruce Griffey in the 2018 Republican primary.
Wirgau was unavailable for comment early this afternoon on his candidacy for County Mayor.
Noon today was the deadline for candidates to file their petitions with the Henry County Election Commission. A full story listing candidates for the local offices will be published later today.
