Union City, Tenn.—Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City was among the top 10 Tennessee hospitals for nurse-to-patient communication on the January 2022 Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey.
HCAHPS is a national, standardized survey of hospital patients about their experiences during a recent inpatient hospital stay. At least 83% of patients at the top 10 hospitals responded “nurses always communicated well.”
“It is an honor for our nurses to be recognized for their patient interaction,” said Skipper Bondurant, administrator and CEO of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City. “The communication between nurses and their patients is vital to providing the best care possible. We are so thankful our nurses realize this and make efforts to communicate well with patients..”
According to CMS, the January 2022 HCAHPS scores are based on three quarters of data (Q3 2020, Q4 2020 and Q1 2021) rather than the customary four quarters.
