Paris, Tenn.–True crime meets local history. A dead playboy doctor. Sordid story of lust, disgrace and broken promises.
A full house was on hand Thursday night to hear the story of “Killing Doctor Bunch, A True Account of an 1859 Killing in Henry County.” The presentation was sponsored by the Henry County Genealogy Society and held at the Paris-Henry County Heritage Center.
John F. Jackson is accused of killing Dr. Francis M. Bunch September 19, 1859, at the former community of Mt. Vista in Henry County. But why?
Gary Wallis told the story of the murder. He has been a Henry County Archive volunteer since 2008 and has written several Archive publications, including one on the Dr. Bunch killing.
Dr. Bunch is believed to be buried in an unmarked grave at Paris City Cemetery.
