LBL Tornado Repair Continues

Land Between The Lakes–Trained crews have been working diligently to clear and repair roads and reroute trails these last several weeks, and their efforts have quickly restored access to almost all facilities throughout Land Between the Lakes.
LBL officials said, “We are fortunate to have a visiting team of skilled forestry specialists to help us assess damaged timber stands. The team is comprised of Silviculturist Foresters, a Silviculture Technician, and multiple Forestry Technicians from the USDA Forest Service Enterprise Department and the Shawnee National Forest. These specialized crews assess tornado damage by mapping the boundaries of the impacted areas; measuring the trees and their percentage of defects; calculating the number of trees per acre; and marking trees. Many thanks to these dedicated foresters for their assistance with our post-storm recovery efforts.”
Trails are also mostly reopened, with the exception of sections of the North/South Trail and Ft. Henry Trail System. Trail detour and safety info is on our Alerts page. Please use caution on roads and trails, as there is still repair work being done. With the amount of damage along the roads, there is also the potential that trees could fall. Please do not attempt to move, cut, or clear any storm debris as it is extremely dangerous, officials said.
