Dover, Tenn.–Stewart County Sheriff Frankie Gray ended speculation about his future plans today by announcing he is seeking re-election as sheriff.
Gray released a statement to employees at the sheriff’s office Friday which states: “This Sheriff’s Office has made Stewart County a safer place to live than it was three years ago. Together we have reduced property crimes, and we are solving crimes at a higher rate than ever before. We are attacking the drug problem in this county and it is making a difference. We have established rehabilitation opportunities and educational programs for inmates.”
Gray said, “This Sheriff’s Office is better trained and better equipped than it’s ever been. We are proving to be not only a professional Law Enforcement Agency but one that is community oriented. We have a very strong and supportive Mayor and Commissioners who support our efforts. Myself and Chief Deputy Dale Ward have more goals that we want to accomplish and all these factors lead me to seek four more years as your Sheriff. I’m very proud of all of you.”
