The Gibson Electric Membership Corporation is reporting this morning they still have 851 members without power and 77 outage trouble spots. Crews have been out all night and are still hard at work and will restore service to everyone as quickly as is safely possible, officials said.

Most of the outages are in Gibson and Dyer Counties.

If you are without power and your outage is not showing up on the Outage Map http://outagemap.gibsonemc.com/, please report it. You can report using the Gibson EMC app, by calling the automated system at 1-800-977-4076, or by calling your local member service center.

If you call the automated system, please only leave a message if you need to report a downed line, broken pole or other damage. If you see a downed line, please stay far away as it may be energized and very dangerous. Thank you for your continued patience and support.

In Obion County, EMA Director Danny Jowers said, “As a whole, Obion County dodged a bullet on this one, could have been so much worse. Sleet and slightly colder air moving in much earlier than predicted was a good thing. Other surrounding areas to the northeast and south had more ice and more power outages and tree damage.”

Jowers advised everyone to stay home, if they can. “If you can, please stay home as things will probably improve slightly by afternoon but not much. If you must get out, then again slower speeds and extra time are strongly recommended. Warm up will be slow as daytime temperatures will struggle to get slightly above freezing and nighttime temperatures will be in the mid teens. This is the forecast at least through the weekend.”
