Rutherford County, Tenn.–Escapee suspect Christopher Taylor, age 24, of Cleveland was apprehended after a four-hour search.
As we reported earlier, Taylor is accused of assaulting and escaping from a Benton County Corrections Officer on Interstate 24. Taylor was located off of South Church Street in Mufreesboro.
Benton County Sheriff Kenny Christopher told RadioNWTN earlier this afternoon that the Benton County Corrections Officer was transporting Taylor from their facility to Bradley County. Taylor had been held in the Benton County Jail on a probation violation.
Joining in the search for Taylor were Rutherford County Sheriff’s deputies, Murfreesboro Police and Tennessee Highway Patrol by ground and air.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Nick Coble and Sgt. James Holloway located Taylor hiding in a storm drain behind an auto collision repair business.
Taylor is being booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.
During a scuffle with the Benton County Corrections Officer, Taylor was able to take a taser and run away on foot. He was shackled and cuffed. The officer was treated and released from a local hospital for injuries sustained in the scuffle.
