Paris, Tenn.–As heavy snow continues to fall, Henry County Sheriff Josh Frey and Paris Police Chief Ricky Watson are urging everyone to stay off the roads. Roads have become slick and treacherous and Frey said, “If you don’t need to be out at this time, please stay home.”
Since the snow began falling this morning, multiple wrecks have already occurred “and conditions continue to worsen”, Frey said.
In the city limits of Paris, some 20 cars have become stuck at the Wood Street-Volunteer intersection, where cars cannot get up the hill, Watson said. “The lights at that intersection have been changed so that people don’t have to stop there because if they stop, they can’t get going again. People just can’t get up that hill,” Watson said.
As of 10:30 a.m., the State Highway Department was on the way with a bulldozer to clear the roadway, Watson said.
Out in the country, Frey said conditions are bad. “We have multiple wrecks and cars off the road scattered all over the county, one right after another. If people can please stay off the roadways, we would appreciate it.”
