Mayfield, Ky.–Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear thanked everyone who donated their time and toys to First Lady Britainy Beshear’s West Kentucky Toy Drive and asked everyone to keep families impacted by the recent tornadoes in their thoughts and prayers over the holidays.

“Tonight will be tough for many Kentucky families,” Governor Beshear said. “So many have seen the unimaginable and lost so much. Please, keep our families in your thoughts and prayers tonight. And let’s remember, we’re in this together for however long it takes to recover and rebuild.”

Yesterday was special, he said. “So many children impacted by the storms were able to walk away with new toys for Christmas thanks to First Lady Britainy Beshear‘s Western Kentucky Toy Drive and the generosity of so many. Thank you to Kentucky State Parks, Kentucky State Police, local law enforcement, teachers, bus drivers and so many other volunteers for making this possible.”

Kentucky State Police, Mayfield post also would like to thank all of those who donated toys through First Lady Britainy Beshear’s Western Kentucky Toy Drive as well as all of those who helped with the distribution of the toys. KSP officials said in a press release, “The Toy Drive was an incredible success and the toys have been delivered to children who were impacted by the tornado that devastated much of Western Kentucky. The Kentucky State Police would like to advise the public that we are no longer accepting toy donations at our Posts now that the toy drive has been completed. Thank you, again, to all of those who helped make the toy drive a success!”
