Paris, Tenn.–The Paris-Henry County Bicentennial Committee and Heritage Center is hard at work compiling information for a new volume of history on Henry County and the deadline has been extended to January 30, 2022 for people to submit family histories.
This expansive volume, which is expected to include over 300 pages, will include an comprehensive history of the county, points of interest, cities, schools, and churches, etc., but will primarily focus on county families.
“The book will be unique as it will be written by Henry County people, giving emphasis to the importance of families in our history,” said Stephanie Tayloe, Book Committee Chair.
Every family currently living in Henry County, or who came from the county, will be asked to provide a brief family history up to 500 words in length along with one photograph. There is no cost to include family histories up to 500 words.
“Although this book will include families from the past, it will also be a thumb print in time of who was here during the county’s bicentennial,” said Tayloe. “Future generations will be able to look back on their parents, grandparents, and beyond. This will be a very important resource!”
Detailed brochures were mailed throughout the county in November, and anyone who did not received a free brochure is asked to contact the Heritage Center at (901) 616-8961 or by emailing hcbicen200@gmail.com. Copies may be reserved through the Heritage Center for only $59.95. The deadline for submitting material for the book is January 30, 2022.
The book will be published by Acclaim Press, who specializes in community histories and trade publications. Additional information about the book is available on the Acclaim Press website: www.acclaimpress.com.
