
Mayfield, Ky.–Graves County Sheriff’s deputies and other first responders gathered today in Mayfield for Deputy Jailer Robert Daniel’s funeral escort tribute.
Jailer Daniel lost his life when the massive tornado took a direct hit on the candle factory in Mayfield. Daniel died making sure that the seven inmates who were working there were safe from the tornado.
As Jailer George Workman said, Deputy Daniel “gave his precious life while physically ensuring that his seven inmates were moved into a safe location.” All of the inmates in Deputy Daniel’s care survived, but he did not.
He was 47.
Funeral Services were held Saturday afternoon at the Brown Funeral Home in Mayfield with Pastor Gregg Hussey and Rev. Antonio Sherrill officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Rest Cemetery.
Daniel is survived by his father four daughters, three sons, a sister and brother and seven grandchildren.
