Dover, Tenn.–This coming Saturday, December 18, Fort Donelson National Cemetery will be the site for the annual laying of remembrance wreaths as part of the national Wreaths Across America day.
This year’s event will be the sixth consecutive year that the ceremony and commemoration has taken place at Fort Donelson.
Whether through participation at a public ceremony, followed by the placement of sponsored wreaths at more than 1,200 of the national cemetery’s 1,750 stone markers, or by visiting the cemetery and viewing the wreaths over the weeks that follow, the public will have an opportunity to reflect upon the heroic individuals that over the course of American history put their lives on the line for our freedoms.
For Saturday’s Fort Donelson observance, a Noon wreath laying ceremony on the front lawn of the cemetery will recognize each of the armed forces of the United States.
The ceremony is programmed to allow for ample social distancing, and attendees are asked to utilize that spacing.
Individuals or families that have sponsored wreaths and have requested an opportunity to place the memorial at a specific grave marker, may arrive as early as 11:00 AM to do such.
The Fort Donelson National Cemetery is located at 174 National Cemetery Drive, Dover, Tennessee.
