Kenton, Tenn.–Obion County Emergency Management Agency Director Danny Jowers has been updating progress of tornado relief and debris removal in that area.

Jowers said, “Very productive day with debris removal. Our sister cities of Rutherford, Dyer,Greenfield, and Bradford sent equipment and manpower. Gibson County Highway Department started late this afternoon and will be with us all day tomorrow. TDOT again hauled tons of debris from the state highway. Dale’s recycling out of Milan with trucks along with numerous private owner operators of trucks. Russ Woods operating a track hoe belonging to Bob Holloman. Baptist men’s association with chain saws and many more. Tomorrow I promise to have a complete list of all. Red Cross shelter still open and believe it or not I saw people already repairing houses! With luck tomorrow we will remove most of the initial debris from this storm.”

Most of our residents in and around Kenton have their power restored, except for the immediate area of destruction, Howers said. Water main isolation for future repairs completed and boil water order lifted. Red Cross shelter still open at First Baptist. “Debris removal started on Hwy 45 by the Tennessee Department of Transportation. That army of TDOT trucks was a wonderful sight to see. Our debris removal plan was completed. Tomorrow debris removal starts….full steam ahead,” Jowers said.

For all those who are still without electricity or displaced in Kenton there is plenty of hot food and other goodies at the First Baptist Church. Also the Red Cross shelter at the church is open, so please if you need a place to keep warm and sleep ,they are open!
