Paris, Tenn.–An 18-year-old Henry County High School student has been arrested for threatening mass violence on school property.

Henry County Sheriff Josh Frey said the administration and School Resource Officers at Henry County High School received information today that two students had made possible verbal threats at the high school.

“Immediate action was taken to contain the students making the threats and ensure the safety of all students,” Frey said. “It has been determined that no weapons were found at the school.”

Frey stressed that all students are safe.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Justin McCaig, age 18, with the offense of threat of mass violence on school property.

Frey said, “He is currently being held at the Henry County Jail. Through the investigation process the other student mentioned in the complaint has been cleared at this time. Again these were verbal threats and no weapons have been found or seized as part of this investigation.”

All threats are taken seriously, Frey said, “and will be handled through a proper investigation. This investigation is still ongoing and anyone that might have information is asked to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.”

Court date is December 9, with bond set at $10,000.
