Union City, Tenn.–Union City High School recently welcomed four new members to the school’s prestigious 30+ ACT Club.
Seniors Oliva Tanner, Arden Stanley, Lydia Runions, and Harris Cagle joined the elite fraternity by scoring 30 or better on the November standardized test used for college admissions. A score of 30 or higher qualifies achievers for significant college scholarship money.
The four joined seven other seniors and three underclassmen from UCHS to have already recorded the impressive score that ranks in the 93rd percentile of the more than 2 million high school students to take the test annually.
Seniors Sara Ullrich, Hope Kennedy, Cedrion Cook, Kobe Terrell, Daniel Edwards, Carter Bondurant and Champ Gray, along with juniors Owen Rodgers, Khali Brooks and Kate Schlager have previously scored 30 or higher on the test.
The 14 students will have their names engraved on a plaque that is the centerpiece among championship trophies in the main entrance lobby of UCHS. There are more than 200 names of past Union City graduates from several decades already displayed on the plaque.
This year’s group will also have their photo prominently displayed on the UC Schools’ digital billboard on Reelfoot Avenue.
Principal Jacob Cross confirmed that a half-dozen more Union City High School students have made 28 on the test and are positioned to join the distinguished group.
Cross also said several other UCHS students scored 21 or higher for the first time and became eligible for HOPE scholarships.
Collectively, Union City students have boosted their average score to 21.5 – the fourth highest in the past 10 years — with several more dates for the national test still on the calendar.
