Union City, Tenn.–A pair of Union City Middle School football players recently participated in the annual Centennial Bank All-Star Game at West Carroll High School.
Aiden Reid and Kirben Thompson represented the Tornado program and were in the starting lineup for the North squad. The North team was made up of players from Dyersburg, Henry County, Obion County, Dyer County and McKenzie.
Reid, who was UC’s Most Valuable Player this past season, saw action at both running back and quarterback. He had several nice gains from both positions on a handful of carries.
Thompson – the Tornadoes’ Offensive MVP this year — was in the opening lineup on defense at cornerback and was in on several tackles.
“I thought both guys played really well and showed they belong with other good players in our area,” UCMS head coach Cole Clanton claimed. “They were good representatives of our program.”
Chosen players participated in two weeks of practice before the contest and each received a plaque to commemorate the occasion.
The South team, which consisted of middle school standouts from Jackson, Lexington, Hardin County, Carroll County and Crockett County, won the matchup 30-7.
