Union City, Tenn.–A Union City restaurant was heavily damaged by fire Sunday night.

The Union City Fire Department was dispatched to the Alibi Bar and Grill on South First Street around 8 p.m. on a report of black smoke coming from the back of the building, according to Chief Karl Ullrich.

Ullrich said when the first unit arrived, there was heavy smoke coming from the rear and the department received mutual aid from the Rives and South Fulton departments.

“The fire was contained to the building and the origin was at the rear in the kitchen area,” he said. “The cause is undetermined at this time.”

The roof of the building is still intact and the structure is in good shape, but Ullrich said, “I would say it’s a total economic loss.”
