Retired Weakley County Sheriff’s Captain Randall McGowan Passes Away

The Weakley County law enforcement community is saddened by the sudden passing overnight of retired Weakley County Sheriff’s Captain Randall McGowan. He was 65.

A Henry County native, McGowan was a long-time deputy with the Weakley County Sheriff’s Office, retiring in February afte 27 years of service.

McGowan began his career with the sheriff’s office in 1994 as a Patrol Deputy. He worked in that capacity until the year 2000, when he was promoted to Investigator. He was later promoted to Captain over Investigations and McGowan held that position until his retirement.

Kirsty-Rhe Tiffner, Communications Director for Weakley County, told RadioNWTN this morning, “It was awful news and we are all heartbroken.”

The Martin Police Department issued a statement on McGowan’s passing this morning: “All of us here at Martin P.D. send our deepest sympathy and condolences to the family of Retired W.C.S.O. Captain Randall McGowan in regards to his passing. We also send heartfelt sympathy to his law enforcement family at Weakley County Sheriff’s Office. Randall was a great family man and served the citizens of Weakley County well during his tenure. Rest in peace Randall.”

Funeral arrangements for McGowan are in the charge of Bowlin Funeral Home in Dresden and will be announced later.
