UCMS Students Earn “Tornado Pride” Designation

Union City, Tenn.–An overwhelming number of Union City Middle School students were recently rewarded with the “Tornado Pride” designation and enjoyed the perks that come with that honor.

The award – which combines academics with good behavior – earns those who receive the accolade of early dismissal from school as well as the chance to win monetary prizes in random drawings for each grade.

In all, 200 UCMS students were recognized, including 50 fifth-graders, 52 from the sixth grade, 56 representing the seventh grade and 42 eighth graders.

The criteria to be honored includes:

(1)   No detentions

(2)   No cellphone violations

(3)   No days in ISS/SUS

(4)   All grades “C” or better

(5)   All absentees/tardies excused

The awards were based on the first nine weeks of the 2021-22 school year.
