Union City, Tenn.–Two who are familiar to many in the area–Stacey Bostwick and his K9 Rowdy–have been hired by the Obion County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy Stacey Bostwick, who is a 31-year Law Enforcement Veteran with a total of 15 years combined experience in narcotic and tracking canine handling, joins the force with his K9 Rowdy. Both have been instrumental in high-profile searches, including the manhunts for Kirby Wallace, a convicted double murderer from Montgomery County, and Curtis Watson, a convicted murderer, rapist and prison escapee from Lauderdale County.
Bostwick has also been a member of the Drug Task Force, the DUI Task Force, a Criminal Investigator, a member of the SWAT team, and he has also been an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician for 22 years. Stacey has been married to his wife Christy for 28 years and they share three children and two adorable little grandchildren.
Rowdy is an 8-year-old good ole’ man-huntin’ Bloodhound tracking canine. He has been working since 2015 after he was rescued in Florida, and his tracking drive was noticed by the animal rescue team. Since that time, Rowdy has been living at home with Stacey and working like a dog, pun intended, according to the press release from the sheriff’s office.
Over the years, Rowdy has been utilized countless times as he is able to search for more than just bad guys and the occasional escapee, but Rowdy can help find missing children, Autistic children when they have walked away from home, scared, and unable to ask for help. Rowdy can also search for missing senior citizens, such as an Alzheimer’s patients who may have become lost from their home or assisted living facility.
Rowdy has also done his fair share of taking a bite out of crime too. Rowdy is credited with 51 successful missions to date including Kirby Wallace, a convicted double murderer from Montgomery County, located after a weeklong manhunt, and Curtis Watson, another convicted murderer, rapist, and prison escapee from Lauderdale County, located after being on the run for 5 days.
Rowdy is friendly and loving dog when he is not on the hunt, so he will be making his rounds soon to all the area schools to meet with the kids and teachers.
Deputy Bostwick will be there too, but he doesn’t do any cool tricks, according to the department.
