Paris, Tenn.–Henry County High School’s Patriot Stadium Press Box was formally named for Jim Farmer, who has been the Voice Of Henry County Football for 42 years.

An emotional Farmer accepted the honor at half-time of Friday night’s Homecoming game, describing himself as “humbled and appreciative. I will treasure this as long as I live.”

Athletic Director Mike Poteete said Farmer is “Patriot pride personified” and noted that every Thursday during football season for the last 16 years, he has had the honor of sitting down with Farmer to study the game ahead and the roster. Poteete said it has been very important to Farmer to spotlight the players over the years and to say their names as often as possible over the public address system.

Poteete said Farmer is “as fine a gentleman as you will ever meet” and he thanked him for the atmosphere created at Patriot Stadium.

He said Farmer will be receiving the AF Bridges Award from the TSSAA for District 7 on November 4 in recognition of his 42 hours of dedication to the community.

Farmer said it has been his ‘great pleasure’ to serve the school and community, noting, “I’ve receive much more than I’ve been given.”
