Clarksville, Tenn.–A Fort Campbell soldier died during training exercises Tuesday afternoon.
All activities at the Joe Swing Park Reservoir where the accident occurred have been cancelled and the area is off-limits until further notice.
According to a press release from Fort Campbell, the soldier died during a diver training exercise.
Fort Campbell officials said the soldier went underwater during the diver training exercise at the Joe Swing Park Reservoir and did not resurface.
Crews from Fort Campbell Fire and Emergency Services, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and Montgomery County Emergency Medical Services searched for the soldier.
The body of the soldier, whose identity has not yet been released, as not recovered until Wednesday morning.
The soldier’s death is now under investigation.
