Dyersburg Economy Inn Closed By Order Of Court

Dyersburg, Tenn.–The Economy Inn in Dyersburg has been closed by order of the Dyer County Chancery Court and District Attorney General.

An injunction was served by the DAs office and Dyersburg Police Department pending a court hearing on Monday, September 20th.

The property is located at 1004 Highway 51 Bypass West. Dyersburg Police have remained on the scene all day as all tenants will have to vacate the property. The City of Dyersburg Public Works have been boarding up all of the rooms including the front office.

At least two arrests have been made during the evictions. Agents from the 29th District out of Dyersburg served a search warrant at a room at the Economy Inn today. Agents seized more than 1/2 ounce of meth, oxycodone, Extasy pills, scales, baggies, gang paraphernalia and more than $1,200.00 in drug proceeds. Two persons are in custody. This case is being prosecuted by District Attorney General, 29th Judicial District, Danny Goodman.

Police Chief Steve Isbell said the Economy Inn has had a long history of criminal activity and has been draining the resources of the police.

The District Attorney’s office said, “Do not enter without the consent of the Dyersburg Police Department. Any violators will be prosecuted.”
