Union City, Tenn.–A number of Union City Middle School cross country runners medaled in their first outing of the season Thursday at Dresden.
Essentially all UC participants improved on their individual times from their respective jamboree outings last weekend. The Top 20 in each race medaled.
No official team results were kept as each grade level raced separately.
Among those finishing in the Top 16 for the Tornadoes were:

Union City will run again Monday at Obion County.
HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL
Gibson Co. 3, UC 1
The Lady Tornadoes won the first game, 26-24, but then dropped three straight (25-16, 25-21, 25-16) to suffer their first match loss after two victories to open the season.
Sara Ullrich had 20 of her team’s 39 digs to top the UC stat sheet. Emma Powell recorded seven digs, six saves and dished out five assists in the four games combined. Kaigan Davis had five kills, four digs and served up four aces.
Anna Lynn Cheatham was good for nine kills, five aces and three blocks.
Union City will play next at Henry County on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
