Union City, Tenn.–All three Union City Schools campuses were buzzing Thursday as students registered for the 2021-22 school year.
Parents accompanied their children to UC Elementary and Union City Middle School and were welcomed by smiling teachers and administrators who made the traditional process simple.
UCES teachers greeted students and their families with chalk art on the campus sidewalk, while the Middle School entrance was decorated with lawn signs and balloons commemorating the occasion.
The same staff helpfulness welcomed incoming Union City High School students before they received their school-issued laptops and had their yearbook photos made before leaving for the day. Returning students also received their yearbooks from the 2020-21 school year.
Freshmen went through an abbreviated schedule that allowed them to acclimate themselves to their new surroundings. Additionally, Principal Jacob Cross met with members of the sophomore, junior, and senior classes for a brief period before dismissing them for the day.
The first day of classes for all Union City Schools students is set for Monday after a final teacher workday Friday in their respective classrooms.
