Paris, Tenn.–The number of Food Pantries and Blessing Boxes in Henry County just keeps growing.

At this point, there are at least seven Food Pantries operating in Henry County, with at least two more planned.

Recent additions to the list of Blessing Boxes that currently are open include Puryear Baptist Church and Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. With those additions, the Puryear area is well-covered, since there already was a Food Pantry at Harrelson School.

Puryear Baptist Church Pastor Brother DeWayne Chadwick told RadioNWTN that during the pandemic, “We looked for other ways to reach out to people, since we couldn’t hold services in-person for so long. Opening a Blessing Box was one of our first steps.”

One of the main reasons for the Blessing Box, he said, “is to show people who need the Blessing Box that we love them.”

In the recent church bulletin, members were notified that the Blessing Box was ready to start serving the community and that items were needed to fill the box. “Please bring nonperishable food and/or personal hygiene items (shampoo,
toothpaste, etc) as soon as possible. You may place donations in the Fellowship Hall kitchen or
in the Blessing Box. For more information, contact Jan Harper, Joyce Fisher,
Carleen Chandler, Theresa Harris, or Pat Barker.”

Puryear Baptist Church is located at 10060 Hwy. 641N. Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church is located at 5525 Jones Mill Crossland Rd., Puryear.

Both new Blessing Boxes have signs on them reading, “Take what you need; Give what you can” and also offer Bibles. The Puryear Baptist Church Blessing Box also includes space for prayer requests.
