Paris, Tenn.–The Paris Police Department has formally recognized one of its own for his efforts in rescuing a lost dog on July 4. Paris Police Assistant Chief Ean Reed said Patrolman Coltin Wyrick was recognized by a local citizen for going above and beyond the scope of his duties to reunite the lost animal with its worried owner. Reed told RadioNWTN that the little dog became scared by fireworks in the Valleywood area, ran off, and Wyrick crawled through mud to rescue the pup.

Reed said, “We are very proud to count him as part of our team and very appreciative of the citizen who took the time out of their schedule to call and recognize him for his efforts. We always appreciate hearing from the public when our officers do a good job.”
