The Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration (TOSHA) recognized a Dyersburg company along with six other Tennessee employers with the prestigious Governor’s Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety and Health for their commitment to keeping employees safe while on the job.
Firestone Industrial Products in Dyersburg produces air ride suspension systems. The company has qualified for the Governor’s Award by working more than 301,651 hours without a lost time or restricted duty workplace injury or illness.

TOSHA  Assistant Commissioner Wendy Fisher recently presented the Governor’s Award of Excellence to company representatives during the closing ceremonies of the Tennessee Safety and Health Conference in Nashville.

“These companies have demonstrated a strong commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace,” Fisher said during the presentation. “The evaluation criteria for this award are challenging, and the companies have worked extremely hard to meet and exceed the standards the award requires.”

The Governor’s Award of Excellence recognizes Tennessee employers and employees who meet a required number of hours without workplace injuries serious enough to cause an employee to miss a day of work or restrict normal job activities. The number of hours required is based on the size of the company.

The other companies are: Helm Fertilizer, Memphis; Image Environmental, Memphis; Zochem in Dickson; APCOM Division of State Industries, Franklin; Sugaright, Covington; US Zinc, Milington.
