Union City, Tenn.–– Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City has received a 2021 Premier QUEST® Hero Award from Premier Inc., a leading healthcare improvement company.  QUEST is Premier’s quality improvement collaborative.  It includes over 150 hospitals/health systems that are united by the power of people, data, and knowledge to improve outcomes, performance, and safety—ultimately enabling higher-quality, more cost-effective healthcare.

Baptist Union City received recognition for its exemplary efforts to act nimbly and quickly evolve care and operations in the face of extraordinary circumstances presented by the pandemic.  According to Premier, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City demonstrated innovation; a commitment to safe, quality patient care; swift, sweeping action; and exemplary leadership during the global crisis.  “A hero is defined as one who combats adversity through feats of ingenuity, courage, or strength and who has attained noble and/or brave accomplishments,” said Seth Edwards, vice president of advisory services at Premier.  “We believe this definition describes all of our QUEST hospitals, including Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City—which, in the face of this unique and challenging public health emergency, demonstrated these characteristics while continuing to deliver care to their respective communities.  Unprecedented times call for unprecedented actions, and we are so proud to partner with these heroes.”

“During this unprecedented time, my teammates have exhibited compassion, courage, and commitment.  I thank our more than 350 heroes for their support,” said Skipper Bondurant, administrator and chief executive officer, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
