Murder Suspect, Companion Arrested In Stewart County

Dover, Tenn.–A murder suspect and a female companion were found and arrested in Bumpus Mills, thanks to the cooperative efforts of the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office, K9 Harry, Erin Police, US Marshals and the TBI on Thursday.

Daniel E. Barrett was wanted on fugitive warrants from from another state as well as 2nd degree murder charges from the Erin Police Department.

According to the press release from the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office, Barrett and a female companion were found at a residence on Cadiz Road in Bumpus Mills.

The pair had escaped arrest early Thursday morning in Clarksville when they were found at a motel but managed to flee from authorities.

In Stewart County, the pair refused to come out of the residence initially but after the announcement that K-9 Harry was going to enter the residence, they surrendered without further incident.

Arrested with Barrett was Rebecca Davis who was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and syringes, some filled with meth, along with other drug paraphernalia.
