Troy, Tenn.–A large crowd was on hand Monday night to hear the Obion County Schools’ plans for use of the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds.

Director of Schools Timothy Watkins presented information to those in attendance, explaining that the ESSER funds were created through the CARES Act.

He said the district is seeking public input on the spending plans for the district. A survey was posted on the Obion County Central High School Facebook page immediately after last night’s meeting.

Each stimulus package has added funding to ESSER and each version of ESSER has added more areas of use, he said. Some of the uses allowed for the funds include the purchase of laptops and charging carts, facility repairs, and improvements.

He encouraged everyone, particularly students, in the district to take the survey online so that district administrators know how the public would like to see the funds used. The link to the survey can be found at:  https://www.obioncountyschools.com/Page/7645
