Dyersburg Standoff Ends In Arrest

Dyersburg, Tenn.–A Dyersburg man was arrested following a standoff with police this morning.
The man had barricaded himself in a house which he was in the process of burglarizing, according to Dyersburg Police.
Police responded to Brasfield Street around 9:30 a.m. in reference to a burglary in progress.
Officers arrived to discover a man, later identified as Kovy Long, age 26, Dyersburg, inside the residence. Long barricaded himself inside the residence refusing to come out. Additional officers secured the perimeter while negotiations continued.
When negotiations failed, officers breached the door and deployed one of the department’s patrol K9’s, and a chemical agent. Long was taken into custody where he remains in jail pending Dyersburg City Court action.
Long is charged with aggravated burglary and resisting arrest. Long was also wanted by Dyersburg police for burglary, vandalism over $1,000.00 and failure to appear.
Fifteen DPD personnel responded and remained on the scene until 11 a.m.
