Buchanan, Tenn.–A little boy was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center Sunday morning after almost drowning on Kentucky Lake.

The 5-year-old boy was found missing from the family’s cabin in the Buchanan area early Sunday morning.

Paris Landing Volunteer Fire Department Chief Reggie Coles said his department was paged around 6 a.m. and directed to prepare a landing area for the Vanderbilt helicopter to land.

Coles said the field next to the fire department’s headquarters on Hwy. 79N was utilized as the landing zone.

The child’s family reportedly was visiting from out of state and the father found the child in the water outside the cabin. According to the sheriff’s office report, the father reportedly performed CPR on the child, who resumed breathing before the Henry County EMS arrived.

With HPPA privacy laws, the condition of the little boy was not available.
