John McAfee, the controversial antivirus software magnate who had many run-ins with the law, including an arrest in Henderson County, Tenn., where he lived for a time, has died in a Spanish prison.

McAfee was 75. He was awaiting extradition in the Spanish prison after being charged with tax evasion in the US last year.

McAfee was found dead in his cell Wednesday and a statement from Spanish authorities states “everything indicates” that McAfee could have died by suicide.  The death is under investigation.

In 2015, McAfee was living in Lexington, Tenn., and was arrested for DUI and possession of a handgun while under the influence. He was arrested by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
