
Dover, Tenn.–A Stewart County Sheriff deputy’s cruiser was shot at three times while a subject was fleeing from a traffic stop Sunday night. The pursuit continued into Montgomery County, where the suspect shot at and rammed a Montgomery County Sheriff’s cruiser.
Stewart County Deputy Sgt. Robbie MacDonald and K9 Harry tracked and apprehended the suspect.
The incident began at approximately 8 pm at Hwy 79 and Bagsby Hill, when a traffic stop was ongoing by Deputy Casey Wilburn and Deputy Aaron Taylor.
According to the press release from the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office, as Deputy Wilburn walked back to his vehicle to run the subject’s name through NCIC, the subject took off toward Montgomery County.
As the subject was moving, items were being thrown from the vehicle and the subject shot at Deputy Wilburn’s vehicle three times while fleeing arrest.
The pursuit continued into Montgomery County when the subject then shot at a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office vehicle, along with ramming the unit. The subject crashed and ran on foot at which point Sgt. MacDonald and Harry tracked and found the subject at a nearby trailer.
Both subjects were apprehended by Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, NO Deputies were injured.
Neither the Stewart County or Montgomery County Sheriff’s Offices have released the name or booking photo of the suspect as of Monday morning. Further details to follow.
