Paris, Tenn.–As expected, the Henry County Schools Board of Education voted unanimously Thursday night to name the press box at Patriot Stadium in honor of long-time public address announcer Jim Farmer.

The building and grounds committee earlier recommended approval of the proposal by Athletic Director Mike Poteete. Poteete had noted that Farmer has been announcing Henry County games for 30 years and has only missed two games in that time. He said he is an outstanding asset to the school district.

District Director of Schools Dr. Leah Watkins said the board will be reviewing diagrams of how the lettering on the press box would look and the project hopefully will be completed by the first home football game.

The fieldhouse previously was named for the late football coach James Counce and the football field was named for the late Bill Hudson.

In other business:

The board honored the work of the School Nutrition program whose personnel have been busy with the Summer Feeding Program. A plaque was given to Food Service Supervisor Karen Wilson for the staff.

The board bid adieu to Avery Wood, who has been serving as the Student Representative on the board this school year.

The board heard updates on the Family Resource Center programs from Judy Goad and Becky Holland.
