Director of Union City Schools Wes Kennedy has announced the hirings of more than a dozen new teachers and support personnel for the 2021-22 school year in recent weeks.

Among the new teachers at UC Elementary School are Emilee Lucas (1st Grade), Anna Logan (1st Grade), Hailey Clendenin (Kindergarten), Kristian Davis (computers) and Carrie Willis (1st Grade). Regena Lindsey has been named the new guidance counselor at UCES.

Amanda Dawkins (Read 180) and Bethany Goodman (PE) will be new faces at Union City Middle School, beginning in August. Meanwhile, Angelique Killebrew (English), Julie Ward (Spanish) and Melissa Rice (Biology) will be new teachers to come aboard at UC High School.

Maddie King will serve as a system-wide speech-language pathologist after her hiring, while Felicia Freeman will work with students on all three campuses as a social worker. Mitzi Mobbs will fill the role of guidance assistant at UCHS.

Leah Dillon, Katelyn Ray and Gina Ursery have all been employed as educational assistants at UC Elementary.

“I’m really excited about what these new teachers and aides will bring to our already outstanding faculty and staff,” Kennedy said. “They were all selected from an impressive list of applicants, and we look forward to them fitting in and bringing their own specific talents to the Purple and Gold family.”

Ten teachers already on staff in the UCSS were recently granted tenure including:

UCES – Jessica Graham, Melanie Kern, TeAnna Thomas

UCMS – Allison Butner, Penne Guess, Lindsay Walker

UCHS – Stevie Gossett, Katie Parr, Jodie Powell, JB Suiter

In recent weeks, Kennedy also announced the retirement of teachers Robyn Doyle and Stephanie Sisco along with EAs Regina Sedberry and Judy Gierling.

More than a dozen personnel transfers between campuses have been approved for the 2021-22 by the DOS, too.

UC Schools personnel will report for in-service in early August for the beginning of the new school year.
